چکیده

Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) is an imaging radar form by taking full advantage of the relative movement of the antenna with respect to the target. Through the simultaneous processing of the radar reflections over the movement of the antenna via the Range Doppler Algorithm (RDA), the superior resolution of a theoretical wider antenna, termed synthetic aperture, is obtained. Therefore, SAR can achieve high resolution two dimensional imagery of the ground surface. In addition, two filtering steps in range and azimuth direction provide accurate enough result. This paper develops a simulation in which realistic SAR images can be generated. Also, the effect of velocity errors in the resulting image has also been investigated. Taking some velocity errors into account, the simulation results on the image resolution would be presented. Most of the times, algorithms need to be adjusted for particular datasets, or particular applications. Keywords—Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR); Range Doppler Algorithm (RDA); Image Resolution

Fundamentals of Synthetic Aperture Radar Systems

The present research is an introductory paper on Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) systems. A review on topics and techniques related to the longrange and shortrange SAR systems are presented. The longrange SAR image is constructed using RangeDoppler Algorithm (RDA); while the RangeMigration Algorithm (RMA) is implemented with shortrange SAR for image formation. The simulation results indica...

An improved imaging algorithm for spaceborne MAPs sliding spotlight SAR with high-resolution wide-swath capability

High resolution; Imaging; Multiple-azimuth-phases; Sliding spotlight; Synthetic aperture radar; Wide swath Abstract Conventional synthetic aperture radar (SAR) systems cannot achieve both highresolution and wide-swath imaging simultaneously. This problem can be mitigated by employing multiple-azimuth-phases (MAPs) technology for spaceborne sliding spotlight SAR systems. However, traditional ima...

An Improved Doppler Parameter Estimator for Synthetic Aperture Radar

To achieve a high quality synthetic aperture radar (SAR) image, the motion caused by the radar and/or the moving target needs be compensated for coherent processing, and this requires the accurate estimation of the Doppler parameters of the received signals. A new, approximate, maximum likelihood (ML) estimator in the time domain is obtained recently to jointly estimate the Doppler parameters, ...

Fast Reconstruction of SAR Images with Phase Error Using Sparse Representation

In the past years, a number of algorithms have been introduced for synthesis aperture radar (SAR) imaging. However, they all suffer from the same problem: The data size to process is considerably large. In recent years, compressive sensing and sparse representation of the signal in SAR has gained a significant research interest. This method offers the advantage of reducing the sampling rate, bu...

Scansar Image Quality Enhancement Using Fitted-geometry Doppler Surface

Most of currently operational Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) satellites include the Scanning SAR (ScanSAR) mode for extended remote sensing applications. The extended swath provided by the ScanSAR mode can make up for the disadvantage of normal satellite SAR operation, such as limited coverage areas and short revisiting times. Therefore the ScanSAR mode is desired, especially when reduced resol...
